What counts as a slow burn?
A slow burn is a romance where attraction, trust, emotional intimacy and commitment develop gradually. The characters usually do not get together until late in the book — sometimes not until the final chapters, or across a whole series. The wait is the point: every near-miss, every almost-confession, every hand that lingers a second too long.
Slow burn describes pacing, not heat. A slow burn can be sweet and closed door, or it can end in very explicit scenes.
